Why Brain Stimulation and Stem Cell Therapies for Mental Health Exists

In my opinion, brain stimulation techniques and stem cell therapies for mental health are the future of mental healthcare because the medicines that are in the pipeline are few and far between. Pharmacotherapy has helped many of us, but it is time to move on.

100  years ago, a psychiatric patient was lucky to have one line written in a ledger by their doctor every month. People with mental health issues had no rights. Now, although there have been successful deep brain stimulation in humans and stem cell therapies on a rat model of schizophrenia, it seems that widespread availability of these possibly groundbreaking therapies is lacking. We went from having no rights to being so protected the researchers are afraid of one lawsuit so they do not want to do the surgeries.

That is the reason for this blog. I want to be one of the first patients who get stem cell therapy for schizoaffective disorder as my life right now is not worth living. My Zyprexa is giving me really bad diabetes and I am so doped up on medicine that a trip to England from New York to visit my honey is out of the question- sadly my mental health is too fragile.

The brain stimulation techniques I will focus a page on on are Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS), Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), and another page on Stem Cell Therapies. I will furthermore subdivide my work on anxiety, bipolar disorder, major depression, and psychotic disorders like schizophrenia.
